The College of Applied Sciences and Arts
(CASA) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is pleased to invite
applications for the Director position within CASA's School of Information
Systems and Applied Technologies (ISAT). The School offers baccalaureate degrees
in Electronic Systems Technologies, Information Systems Technologies, and
Technical Resource Management on-campus and Electronics Management and Fire
Science Management off-campus. The Information Systems Technologies is also
offered as an online degree completion program. These programs serve
approximately 300 students on-campus and 485 students in total. This is a unique
opportunity for a person to lead a diverse faculty with varied research
interests and backgrounds.
Appointment Date: This appointment begins January 1, 2014, or when an acceptable applicant is found. The director appointment is on an 11-month term basis, with a 9-month continuing faculty contract. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; excellent fringe benefit package.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an earned, completed terminal degree, and qualifications for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor within the School. The candidate must have administrative experience, academic and practical experience related to one of the majors within the School Information Systems and Applied Technologies.
Preferred Qualifications: Completed doctorate degree in a related technical field, administrative, fiscal distance education experience.
Responsibilities: The College seeks an individual who will provide leadership to a cohesive and productive faculty of 20 full-time and several part-time faculty members. The director must be committed to (1) actively motivate faculty members to conduct research, seek grant opportunities, provide quality classroom instruction, perform service activities, and develop outreach programs; (2) engage in teaching, scholarly research, outreach and professional service activities commensurate with the position of Director; (3) serve-as an effective liaison with the Dean's office and other academic units. Specifically, the Director will perform the following tasks: serve as chief administrative, fiscal, and academic officer of the School; represent the School and its program in the College as well as the University and the community at large; coordinate overall teaching, curriculum development, research, and service programs to accommodate students, staff, and the interests of the College; coordinate off-campus academic programs; coordinate distance education curriculum; and engage in other assignments as determined by the Dean of the College. The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts. The College and the University: The College of Applied Sciences and Arts has two master's degrees, 15 baccalaureate degrees, and 2 associate degree programs housed in 4 academic schools, serving approximately 1,800 students on campus and approximately 700 students off campus. Southern Illinois University Carbondale is located in scenic Southern Illinois on the edge of the Shawnee National Forest, approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis and 350 miles south of Chicago.
