Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Aviation Management)
Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs

The College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for anticipated positions of Visiting Assistant Instructor/Lecturer [Automotive Technology (AUT) and Fire Service Management (FSM) only], Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor within the College's Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs (OCAP). Positions are available in Automotive Technology (AUT), Aviation Management (AVM), Electronic Systems Technologies (EST), Fire Service Management (FSM), and Health Care Management (HCM). These are non-tenure track appointments and do not lead to tenure. Undergraduate courses are taught in a variety of delivery formats including: traditional classroom, online, and hybrid delivery. Courses are held at off-campus location(s) throughout the United States and schedule(s) vary by program.

Courses To Be Taught:

AUT: Alternative Fueled Vehicles, Applications of Technical Writing, Automotive Financial Management and Operations, Automotive Fixed Operations Management, Automotive Warranty Administration and Customer Relations, Drivability & Emission Diagnostics, Network Systems and Vehicle Electronics, Vehicle Stability and NVH.

AVM: Airline Management, Airport Management, Airport Planning, Air Transport Labor Relations, Aviation Industry Career Development, Aviation Industry Regulation, Aviation Maintenance Management, Aviation Safety Management, Fiscal Aspects of Aviation Management, General Aviation Operations, Legal Aspects of Aviation, Independent Studies (IS).

EST: Applications of Solid State Devices, Applications of Technical Writing, Career Development for Electronics Managers, Communication Systems Management, Digital Circuit Applications, Electronics Industry Data Applications, Legal Aspects of Electronics, Microcontroller Applications Lecture, Optical Electronics, Independent Studies (IS).

FSM: Applications of Technical Writing, Data Interpretation, Fiscal Aspects of Fire Service, Labor-Management Relations, Governmental Aspects of the Fire Service, Human Resource Management, Legal Aspects of Fire Service Management, Master Planning for Community Fire Protection, Professional Development, Risk Management in the Fire Service.

HCM:
Analysis and Evaluation of Health Care Services, Data Applications for Health Professions, Equipment and Materials Management in Health Facilities, Health Economics, Health Policy, Quality Management in Health Care Facilities, Technical Information for Health Managers.

Qualifications:

AUT, AVM, EST, FSM, & HCM: Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor-Master's degree by date of hire in a major appropriate to the course(s) being taught or related area required; doctorate preferred. AUT & FSM (only): Visiting Assistant Instructor/Lecturer-Bachelor's degree by date of hire in a major appropriate to the course(s) being taught or related area required; master's degree preferred. All Independent Study Courses: Proficiency in the use of APA style preferred. Past teaching experience in research or technical writing preferred. All Programs: Post-secondary teaching experience and/or related industry experience required. Ability to travel to specified location for teaching and to teach specified course(s) required.

Responsibilities:

To teach undergraduate course(s) as indicated above. To provide appropriate personnel at the off-campus site with course syllabus, first reading assignment, and any required course handouts at least eight weeks in advance of assignment. To provide grades within specified deadlines. To maintain contact with the OCAP staff for student inquiries and grading requirements for up to 12 months from last scheduled class meeting date.
