Associate Dean (Full Professor)
College of Agricultural Sciences

Title: Associate Dean. The position is a 12-month term appointment.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess an earned doctoral degree and hold the rank of Full Professor in one of the College of Agricultural Sciences units.

Responsibilities: The Associate Dean is expected to assist the Dean in implementing and executing a new College of Agricultural Sciences Strategic plan. The elements of the strategic plan can be viewed at http://chancellor.siu.edu/strategic-planning/index.html. Implementation of a plan for success for students, research, outreach, diversity, financial, etc., will be components of the individuals responsibility in working with faculty, staff, agricultural partners, alumni, and friends of the college. S/he will also coordinate college level committees, professional development, and serve as liaison for the College with commodity groups, industry, and governmental agencies.

Personnel Management
: The Associate Dean will coordinate with the Dean and Department Chairs the hiring of faculty and staff and be responsible for all personnel contracts. In that capacity, the Associate Dean will also serve as a liaison for personnel matters in the College with the Office of the Associate Provost for Administration.

Overall Administration: The Associate Dean will serve as Chief Operating Officer for the College in the absence of the Dean. Additionally, s/he will provide the Dean with possible solutions to challenges and opportunities through discussions on all programmatic areas related to the college.
