Title: Director of Applications, Information

Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of management experience in a complex and dynamic business and technology environment, including 5 years at a senior management level, preferably in a public, higher education system.
Must have the ability to lead, manage, and work
effectively in a consultative, team-oriented culture, superb communication,
financial management, business & organization planning, negotiating and problem
solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to
work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Duties: Direct the development and integration team to ensure understanding of user requirements and needs; Direct Unified Digital Campus, AIS and develop a customer-centric culture with teams. Oversee evaluation of potential solutions, conducting studies of alternative solutions and an assessment of impact and cost. Configure and adapt selected solutions as required to support Enterprise Operations.
Oversee the facilitation of user/performance testing/documentation development and maintenance, and teams that support production and maintaining, upgrading and enhancing solutions as required. Provide leadership for the development of training materials/coordinating training delivery. Responsible for the physical, and fiscal operation of Applications, AIS and Banner, and to the University as a whole, depending on requests for special applications and projects.
Develop operational procedures, processes, budgets and schedules in accordance with IT policies and methodology to achieve strategic goals. Organize and align subordinate units around strategic goals and operational plans. Coordinate plans with division management, external units and end-users as appropriate. Delegate operational goals to subordinate managers/supervising technical professionals and hold them accountable for tactical outcomes. Manage changes to strategic goals using a systematic change management process and procedure. Identify outcomes, gaps, and methods to achieve goals resulting from change.
Advise end-users and executive sponsors on matters of technology, system support and limitations, vendor support and software development/future releases. Investigate/report on matters of software capabilities, system integration and feasibility of requested modifications and system interfaces. In conjunction with executive sponsors, research the need for and feasibility of implementing system upgrades and releases. Develop appropriate business and strategic relationships with key vendors. Work with vendors to understand the technical and financial impact of long-term technology planning objectives. Maintain positive and responsive vendor relations. Champion user requests for systems modifications and needed assistance to software vendors as software difficulties are encountered and requests for technical support are elevated. Communicate concerns and requested modifications to purchased systems for consideration as future modifications are developed. Create, maintain and facilitate through direct reports, a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation. Define goals at the beginning of a performance period and implement communication plans to gain and reinforce employee acceptance of ideas by creating a shared vision. Develop, implement and continuously improve a performance management system focused on standards, performance measurement and customer satisfaction. Monitor employee evaluations to insure consistence of supervisory assessment.
