Position: Chair and Professor, Department of Sociology, SIU Carbondale.

Qualifications: PhD in Sociology and academic qualifications consistent with appointment in the Department of Sociology at the rank of tenured Professor. Advanced associate professors who wish to be considered for appointment at rank of professor with tenure are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a strong record of published research, an active research agenda, and experience with administrating or coordinating departments, organizations, journals, or programs. Applicants must have the capacity for successful administrative work in areas such as personnel, curriculum, and recruitment.

Duties: The Chair is the Department's chief fiscal and academic officer and oversees all curricular, budgetary, programming, and personnel matters in the Department of Sociology. About the University: SIU is classified as RU/H: Research Universities (high research activity). The University grants degrees in sociology at the BA, MA, and PhD level.
