Description of Position: A full-time position as Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention is open for employment in the College of Education and Human Services. The person in this position will assume responsibility for recruitment and retention and collaborate on data management of student information for the College.

Responsibilities for the Position: The following recruitment and retention duties are conducted through the College of Education and Human Services:

  1. Facilitate collaborative relationship and on-going communication with community colleges and high school counselors.
  2. Coordinate activities on-campus as well as off-campus related to recruitment and retention.
  3. Organize and develop program and materials to promote COEHS program opportunities for current and prospective students.
  4. Manage on-going contact with prospective students.
  5. Manage orientation programs and activities for new and continuing students.
  6. Serve as the University Associate with the COEHS designated Freshmen Interest Group Housing.
  7. Oversee the Student Leadership Program.
  8. Serve as COEHS representative for the SIU Carbondale Alumni Association Extern Program.
  9. Serve on College Marketing committee and assist with development and review of web based marketing materials.
  10. Evaluate College academic policies which inhibit or improve retention. Make recommendations on retention plans and implement those plans for effectiveness.
  11. Collaborate with office staff regarding data management required for preparing accurate reports.
  12. Flexibility to maintain a schedule that will involve some local area travel and some in-state travel that will include occasional weekend and evening work assignments.

Requirements for the Candidate:

  1. Master's degree.
  2. Minimum of two years' experience working with students in a higher education setting, preferably advising, educational admissions or teaching.
  3. Computer skills required. Computer experience with Banner, Hobson's Connect and Hobson's Retain are preferred.
  4. Ability in oral and written communications.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Knowledge of undergraduate policies and procedures.

This is a security-sensitive position; the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check, prior to any employment offer.

Appointment and Salary: This is a 12 month fiscal appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience and background.

Effective Date of Employment: As soon as possible.
