The Dean of Students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is currently accepting applications for the position of Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Position: Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications for the position of Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life. This is an Administrative-Professional position responsible for the administration and advisement of the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Registered Students Organizations (RSOs).

Responsibilities Include: Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, facilitating cultural, social, educational, and entertainment program development and implementation, reducing risk factors to the institution, and providing positive co-curricular opportunities. Advise and assist FSL RSOs with needs assessments, goals development, contract negotiations, marketing, purchasing, risk management and harm reduction, and evaluation of programs. Conduct needs assessment for program development and management while facilitating change to reflect current practices and trends. Develop planning goals and objectives. Provide fiscal advisement, oversight and accountability, recommend and implement fiscal guidelines, procedures, and determine budget priorities. Identify and recognize student leaders through administration of scholarship awards/accounts. Provide opportunities for student involvement and experiential learning which contribute to student success and satisfaction. Assist with administering personal and professional development programs for FSL RSO officers. Guide councils in group processes, problem solving, and decision-making. Provide direction to and consultation with students, advisory boards, internal and external agencies. Promote student leadership and enhance leadership and life skills. Promote development and involvement factors that encourage persistence/retention. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate graduate staff. Oversee a variety of marketing efforts and tools and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, Student development, Counseling or related areas, plus prior involvement in higher education and student development/student activities with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: student mentoring programs, fraternity/sorority advisement, student retention/persistence programs, student volunteer/leadership development, student organization management, or first year experience programs.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior leadership development training experience. Professional experience in the specific responsibility areas for which application is made; effective communication skills; interpersonal, organizational, and management skills; proven leadership capabilities; demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment; fiscal management experience. Three years of professional experience desired.
