Researcher II (Full-Time)
Office of Sponsored Projects Administration
SIU Carbondale

Position: Researcher II - Full time, 12 month, term appointment with the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration. This position reports to the Director of the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration. It also interfaces with all divisions of the Vice Chancellor for Research and many other academic units on campus.

Qualifications: B.A./B.S. and greater than five-years of experience in research administration. Knowledge of and experience with major research instrumentation and facilities in all disciplines. Prior knowledge of research and technology-transfer procedures. Ability to cultivate strong relationships with research stakeholders in the region and Chicago area (e.g. 1871 incubator and Illinois Science and Technology Coalition). Experience with technology and research event planning. Experience collecting and analyzing research data in a higher education setting.

Duties and Responsibilities: This position will provide reports and information to the VCR and director of OSPA on the strengths and weaknesses of the campus research infrastructure as well as provide informed input on potential collaborative opportunities between researchers and academic disciplines. The work will require the ongoing collection, analysis and dissemination of data and research activity at SIU Carbondale as compared to peer institutions and aspirational institutions. The position will interact with research stakeholders including faculty, researchers, funding agencies, industry partners, alumni and the grants office. It will design, distribute and analyze campus research climate instruments for campus. It will continuously research best practices in the industry regarding grants administration and research activity. The position will be involved in reviewing and recommending techniques to improve effectiveness and efficiencies of technical activities and management of labs and research facilities.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
