POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Researcher II (Full-Time)
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

A one hundred percent (100%) time term position in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is available starting February 2018. The position is funded by startup funds.

Description of Duties and Position:

  1. Cleaning in the laboratory and ordering chemicals and reagents
  2. Perform tissue culture and conduct bioenergetics experiments
  3. Maintain documentation and operate and maintain general laboratory equipment
  4. Supervise graduate and undergraduate student workers conducting research in the laboratory
  5. Instructing others in the use of equipment and techniques
  6. Explore new methods such as human cell line transfection and/or live-cell fluorescence microscopy under the supervision of the principal investigator
  7. Acquire, compile, analyze, and present data obtained from experiments
  8. Assist the principal investigator with preparing and editing research proposals, abstracts, and professional publications

Minimum Desirable Qualifications: A Master of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field. B.S. applicants must have at least two years relevant experience.

Appointment and Salary: Salary will be dependent on the experience of the applicant and will be in accordance with university guidelines. Maximum salary is $2916.67/month.

Effective Date of Employment: March 1, 2018, or as soon as possible.
