Admissions Coordinators: Southern Illinois University Carbondale Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks one or more Admissions Coordinators. This position is responsible for managing a recruitment territory in an assigned area and assisting prospective undergraduate students through the enrollment process. Extensive travel, including nights and weekends, lifting boxes weighing 30 lbs. or more, urban and rural driving, and regular travel trips of two to seven hours or more may be necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Admissions Coordinator reports to an Associate or Assistant Director of Admissions and will be a member of a recruitment team comprised of enthusiastic individuals who coordinate efforts to manage recruitment in Illinois and the surrounding region. This position will travel widely during the fall and spring semesters to promote SIU at high school and/or college visits, college fairs and other community events. Extended hours are a regular part of this position. This position will communicate with prospective students in person, through e-mail, social media, and over the phone using numerous calling campaigns spanning the entire recruitment cycle.

Short and long-range planning is a critical part of this position. Employees are held accountable for recruitment goals and are expected to manage their territories effectively, efficiently, and with creativity. Employees must work independently and adhere to all university and unit policies and procedures.

Employees are encouraged to develop their professional skills by taking on a variety of projects in the office. The ideal candidate will be a strong contributing member of the enrollment management team and will understand and operate within the context of the team's broader vision and goals.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, one-year public speaking experience, as indicated by campus tour leadership, classroom leadership, sales presentations, or other types of presentations. Valid Illinois driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of SIU Carbondale; involvement as a student at SIU Carbondale (through student organizations, student employment or other student activities; undergraduate experience in organizations or activities); post-graduate involvement with SIU through alumni activities, city/university activities, or other activities; strong writing skills as indicated in the cover letter and resume; one year of experience managing a recruitment or sales territory or working with prospective student populations at the high school, community college, or university level; and knowledge of related computing programs, such as Banner or another student information system, CRM technology, GIS programs, statistical programs, or advanced data processing and management.

This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.
