Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Biomedical Engineering)

Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Position: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at SIU Carbondale invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure track), Associate Professor, or Professor position in the area of Biomedical Engineering. This is a 9-month, continuing appointment.

Appointment Date: August 16, 2019.

Qualifications:Applicants at all ranks must hold a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering or a similar Engineering discipline. For applicants at the Assistant Professor level, PhD candidates may be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by August 15, 2019. For such applicants, if all requirements for the PhD are not completed by that date, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy (https://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.php). Applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor must have potential for excellence in teaching and a potential for high quality research documented by technical publications in the area of Biomedical Engineering. Applicants at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have a proven record of success in the general area of Biomedical Engineering and must qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at SIU Carbondale.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our evolving Biomedical Engineering program, will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and will develop a strong research program in his/her areas of interest. Responsibilities also will include supervision of graduate students, student advisement and service activities related to the department, college and university.

The Department provides support and excellent opportunities for the development of new faculty.
