Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair (Professor), Department of Computer Science. The Chair is the intellectual leader, Chief Academic Officer and Fiscal Officer of the Department. The Chair will provide strong leadership for educational programs at the BS, MS, and PhD levels, and will be instrumental in the continuing development of interdisciplinary research programs synergistic with the ongoing research in the department. The Chair is responsible for promoting the selection and retention of outstanding and diverse faculty and staff, and is expected to maintain a climate that is hospitable and encourages faculty and staff engagement, participation, collegiality, and innovation. Appointment will be at the rank of Full Professor with tenure.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and must have scholarly credentials commensurate with an appointment at rank of full Professor with tenure in the Department of Computer Science at SIU Carbondale. Applicants must possess demonstrated administrative skills, have a strong record of research and teaching, have excellent communication skills, and show evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion. Previous experience with the procedures and the requirements of ABET accreditation are desired but not required.

Effective Date of Employment: The anticipated starting date is July 1, 2019, or earlier if possible for the selected candidate.
