The College of Science Dean's Office at Southern Illinois University is seeking qualified applicants for one Recruitment and Retention Specialist position starting as soon as possible. This is an Administrative/Professional, 12-month, term appointment. Consideration will be limited to current SIU Carbondale employees.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities will be assisting the Assistant Dean with contact and management of prospective and currently enrolled students. The Specialist will facilitate a collaborative relationship and on-going communication with community colleges and high school faculty, counselors, administrators, Science Living and Learning Communities (LLC) and Saluki Science Ambassadors. The Specialist will work with the Assistant Dean to review and make recommendations regarding academic policies, retention, and student success, and will assist in implementing these policies. This position will maintain a flexible schedule to be available to travel to attend various recruitment and retention events on campus and off campus.  Some travel, weekend and after hours required.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Science or Education required. Applicants must have: one year of experience in student recruitment and retention in a university setting; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; experience in advising, recruiting, and/or teaching; computer, word processing and database management expertise. Preference will be given to applicants with: an accomplished record of coordinating & directing programs that promote retention and success; experience working with Hobson's CONNECT & RETAIN databases; experience with Banner & Workflow, or similar large database system; effective organizational skills and ability to work effectively with little or no direct supervision on multiple projects.
