POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Professors
Department of Computer Science
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Position/Rank: One or more Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Computer Science, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, 9-month, continuing, tenure-track appointment. This position is contingent on available funding.

Appointment Date: August 16, 2017

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Ph.D. in computer science or related field. Ph.D. candidates will be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by August 15, 2017. If all requirements for the Ph.D. are not completed by that date, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy (http://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.php).
  2. Evidence of ongoing and future research.
  3. Teaching competency in a reasonable number of computer science subjects at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
  4. Specialty in Distributed and Cloud Computing, Big Data, or High Performance Computing.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in computer science.
  2. Conduct research and direct graduate student research in computer science.
  3. Participate in activities that support the department’s mission of teaching, research, and service.
