Researcher I (Full-Time)

Qualifications: The successful applicant must hold a B.A. or B.S. in Anthropology, Museum Studies, or related field with a minimum of one-year experience working with the curation of archaeological collections. Applicant(s) must demonstrate a strong background in curation of archaeological materials from the southwestern US and southern Illinois, including cataloguing, proper handling, artifact identification, and database use and management. Proficiency in Filemaker Pro and excellent problem-solving skills are required. Previous experience in working with NAGPRA mandated collections is required.

Duties and Responsibilities: Work assignments depend on the center’s needs and may include but not be limited to rehabilitating archaeological collections, identification of human skeletal remains, identification of basic artifact classes, recording and processing data in Filemaker Pro, and resolving provenience of archaeological items and assemblages.

Date of Employment: April 30, 2018
