POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Instructors/Lecturers (Variable Time) (Counselor Education)
Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Description of Position: Instructors/Lecturers (variable percent of time) in the Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education for Fall 2018.

Responsibilities: Teach courses at the graduate level in the Counselor Education program with emphases in one or more of the following: clinical mental health counseling, and group counseling. The assignments will include course instruction and supervision of practicum.

Required Qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in counselor education, or comparable doctoral degree.
• Hold a license or be eligible for licensure as a LPC, LCPC, LMFT in state of Illinois.
• Requires evidence of the potential for scholarly research leading to publication in nationally refereed journals.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with:

• A degree from a CACREP-accredited program, or have been employed as full-time faculty members in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
• (a) Post-master's experience in clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, group counseling, or a combination thereof, (b) clinical experience and ability to contribute to other specialty areas within the program, (c) demonstrated awareness of issues affecting diverse populations, (d) membership in ACA and its affiliated organizations, especially ACES, AMHCA, AMCD, and/or ASGW, (e) experience or interest in developing distance education through online/hybrid formats and (f) who have had prior university teaching experience.

Effective Date of Employment: Fall 2018 semester (August 16, 2018).
