Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice (Program Manager)

Position: Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice (Program Manager), Workforce Education and Development Off-Campus Degree Programs. This is a full-time, 9-month academic year, non-tenure track (NTT) faculty position with teaching, recruitment, retention, and program support responsibilities.


  1. The rank of Assistant Lecturer requires a master's degree in workforce education, adult learning, instructional design, higher education, or related field. The rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires an earned doctorate with a focus in workforce education, adult learning, instructional design, higher education, or related field.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience managing educational programs for adult learners.
  3. Minimum 2 years of experience working with marketing educational programs.
  4. Minimum 2 years of undergraduate or graduate teaching (postsecondary).
  5. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  6. Ability to travel outside of the state via airplane, train, and motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Counseling or advising experience.
  2. Experience facilitating faculty training and professional development.

Responsibilities: Implement College of Education and Human Services Off Campus Degree Programs policy and curriculum for undergraduate and graduate programs: assist the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Department Chairs with scheduling off campus courses; supervise and direct off campus academic advisor(s), work experience/occupational training evaluator, and independent course managers; address off campus registration and advising issues; collaborate with SIU Carbondale Extended Campus and SIU Carbondale Veterans Services staff; assist with establishing enrollment goals; implement marketing strategies for off campus programs; teach undergraduate/graduate courses as needed/approved; conduct site visits at off campus locations across the United States; and complete other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean.
