POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice (Special Education) (UCLC, Grayslake, IL)
Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Description of the Position: Part-time, non-tenure track faculty positions in the Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education for Spring 2019. The home base for these positions is the off-campus program at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake, IL.

Appointment: These are term appointments for Spring 2019 semester and contingent on available funds. The successful candidates may be re-appointed for future semesters contingent on programmatic needs, funding, and job performance.

Responsibilities of the Position: Teach courses at the undergraduate/graduate level in the Special Education program.

Qualifications/Requirements: The rank of Assistant Lecturer requires an earned master’s degree in Special Education or a related field; the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires an earned doctorate in Special Education or a related field.

Applicants for either level must provide evidence in the following areas:

  1. Broad background with an emphasis in Special Education
  2. Teaching experience at the K-12 school level (classroom-based, consultant, etc.)
  3. Knowledge and experience related to one or more content areas listed below: Introduction to Special Education; Methods and Materials for Teaching a Functional Curriculum; Assessment in Special Education, Behavior Management for Children and Youth with Disabilities; Legal Frameworks for Special Education; Collaboration.

Effective Date of Appointment: Spring 2019 Semester (January 1, 2019)
