Position: Instructor/Assistant Instructor (Lead Teacher)

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with experience in teaching preschool children or a Bachelor's degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education with two years paid experience in teaching preschool children and six (6) or more courses in early childhood education and/or child development. Ability to maintain a program of developmentally appropriate instruction and physical management and care for children ages three to five years is required. An 04 teacher certification is preferred. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant instructor with a bachelor's degree and at the rank of instructor with a master's degree.

This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the university will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check.

Duties: Maintain a program of developmentally appropriate classroom instruction and provide a safe and nurturing environment in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards, Program Policies, and Department of Children and Family Services. Major duties include assisting with developing and implementing daily lesson plans, conducting developmental screenings and assessments, referrals and home visits.
