Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

The College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA) Dean's Office at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for a Recruitment and Retention Coordinator position starting November 1, 2018. This is an Administrative Professional, 12-month, term appointment. CASA is composed of Schools and Departments covering Allied Health, Architecture, Information Systems and Applied Technologies, and Transportation fields. We invite individuals to submit applications. This position reports directly to the CASA Dean. It focuses on undergraduate recruitment and retention with college constituencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master's degree, at time of application, in education, business, management, technical field, or other related degree.
- Three years of experience in university or community college settings in student affairs related areas: recruitment, retention, academic advisement, enrollment management, program development, and/or student placement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with recruitment/retention best practice and trends in higher education.
- Experienced in developing initiatives, marketing plans and student relations.
- Experience with student information systems, such as Banner, SSC or similar database systems.
- Understanding of University regulations, policies and procedures.

Duties:
- Lead all student affairs and services activities in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts to meet the goals and directives of the University and the College.
- Lead non-faculty related matters including internships, externships, career services, communications and marketing, academic advising, enrollment management, recruitment and retention, scholarships, diversity & inclusion, and academic support assistance.
- Promote and support innovation in student affairs, including technology-based marketing and recruitment, SEO, geo-fencing marketing, and smart advisement.
- Produce enrollment management data for the College, including prospects, admissions, course enrollments/credit hour tracking, cost study, yield tracking and report, retention report, graduation report and job placement report.
- Lead the College's NEAT Initiative, generating No-Show/No-Coverage report, Student Engagement report, Mid-Term Access Grade report, and Term report for student success.
- Oversee the fiscal responsibilities for student support and services, scholarships, research assistantship, and student participation in research projects.
- Coordinate the hire, supervision and evaluation of student workers, FWS students, graduate assistants, Academic Peer Associates, Ambassadors and other student workers in the College.
- Monitor enrollment trends and provide analytical analysis reports to the Dean and Administrative Staff in the College.

- Coordinate and schedule visits to middle schools, high schools, and colleges to speak and present to groups and individuals; build connections with school counselors, administrators, and faculty members to promote outreach activities and recruitment of students for the College.
- Serve as the point person for internal coordination of student recruitment and retention management goals utilizing specific knowledge gained of prospective student trends, admissions decisions, registration criteria, financial aid, academic performance, careers, scholarship information, and deadlines.
- Lead, organize and implement recruitment and retention plans for the College; manage and coordinate College centralized recruitment & retention correspondence and activities. Coordinate College involvement in University recruitment/retention activities both on and off campus.
- Develop and maintain the College's communications and marketing materials (e.g. newsletters, annual reports, web, print, multimedia, and social media). Prepare reports and proposals, review and make recommendations for allocation of resources based upon effectiveness of activities, and responds to inquiries from students, faculty, administration and support staff.
- Maintain commitment to superior customer service and public relations; handle contacts and communications to accommodate requests; support, develop, and implement recruitment, retention, and public affairs events; promote and represent College at outreach and other special event programs; manage public brand awareness.
- Work with the College in developing and seeking recruitment and retention grants and developing related requests for resources and opportunities.
- Coordinate and support prospective student visits and the College's participation in recruitment, retention, and alumni events. Organize new student welcome activities; organize and promote Living Learning Community activities and programs; coordinate the College Ambassadors program and Externship program.
- Manage and supervise GA's and student workers as assigned.
- Will be expected to travel overnight and weekends and maintain a valid driver's license.
