POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Assistant Professor (Health Administration/Informatics)
School of Allied Health
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

The College of Applied Sciences and Arts (ASA) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for an anticipated Assistant Professor position within ASA's School of Allied Health's Health Administration/Informatics program beginning August 16, 2019. This is a continuing, nine-month, tenure track position.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Health Services Administration/Management or in Healthcare Administration/Management OR
• Doctorate in Health Information Technology/Management or in Health Informatics OR
• Doctorate in Business Administration/Management in Healthcare Management/ Administration and/or Health Information Management/Technology emphasis OR
• Masters in Health Administration and/or health Informatics and/or Health Information Technology and/or Masters in Business Administration and/or Masters in Public Health each with a Doctorate in a related field

Preferred qualifications:

• Two or more years experience as a manager or supervisor in a healthcare organization resulting in direct industry specific knowledge
• Experience teaching healthcare administration/informatics courses at the graduate level with topics that include, but are not limited to; statistics, operations management in healthcare, healthcare economics, healthcare finance, healthcare operations, health information systems, health informatics and project management, and strategic planning in healthcare
• Understanding of the CAHME and/or CAHIIM accreditation process

Responsibilities:

• To provide direct classroom/laboratory/clinical instruction and office hours as assigned
• To teach in multiple delivery formats, including face-to-face on campus lectures (day and evening) and online (traditional and accelerated)
• To provide indirect teaching, such as: student selection, coordination of clinical education, student advisement, recruitment, and retention for the program in Heath Administration/Informatics
• Drive to distant clinical education sites
• To participate in all program duties as described in accreditation standards, which include program assessment activities
• To participate in professional practice, seminars, or workshops necessary to maintain up-to-date skills in the Health Administration/Informatics
• Assist with student recruitment and retention activities and perform service duties as assigned
• Conduct scholarly research and produce creative activities consistent with School of Allied Health expectations
• Some travel will be expected to meet workload assignment
• Engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Allied Health
