Assistant Lecturer/Clinical Assistant Professor (Program Coordinator) (Public Safety Management and Public Safety and Homeland Security Management)

The College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position (with functional title of program Coordinator) in the Public Safety Management and Public Safety and Homeland Security Management programs. For an individual holding a Master's degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Lecturer; for an individual holding a doctoral degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a term, renewable, full time, non-tenure-track faculty position that reports to the Director of the School of Architecture. The term of appointment will be 9 months (academic year contract), with the possibility of Summer appointments contingent on programmatic needs.

Position Overview: This faculty position supports the undergraduate Public Safety Management (PSM) and graduate Public Safety and Homeland Security Management (PSHSM) programs. These programs are administered from the Carbondale campus of Southern Illinois University and are offered at various off-campus locations. The PSM program is an accredited International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) program and a long-time participant in the Federal Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) program. This position will require frequent travel including weekends and nights. Due to the requirements of the position, the incumbent is normally required to be in the office when not traveling. The incumbent's home base and office space will be on the Carbondale campus of Southern Illinois University.
