Lecturer (Variable-Time) (Fashion Design and Merchandizing)

The College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for lecturer position(s) (term, renewable, variable time, non-tenure track) serving the Fashion Design & Merchandising program. The state date for this position is August 16, 2017.

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree (ABD or Ph.D. preferred) in Fashion Merchandising or closely allied field. Applicants who hold only a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising will be considered if they have a minimum of 6 years of appropriate industry experience and have tested professional experience that includes, for example, managerial, supervisory, or technical industry positions with major retailers, distributors, or manufacturers that demonstrate appropriate career advancement. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach courses required in FDM and have up-to-date industry knowledge of fashion.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience at the university/college level and industry experience.

Responsibilities: Teaching three undergraduate courses per term – Careers in Fashion, Textiles I, Fashion Merchandising Mathematics (Fall); Textiles II, Apparel & Textile Economics, Fashion Merchandising (Spring).
