Position: Researcher III (Belleville Research Center), term, administrative/professional

Qualifications: A Master's degree or higher in agronomic area or related field and three years experience in a crop production field. The candidate must also possess both a valid Class C driver's license and pesticide applicators license. Candidate must be able to lift and carry 50 lb. Candidate must show previous documented ability to supervise and train others as well as possess strong oral and written communication skills. S/he must have working knowledge of regional agricultural production methods and have previous experience utilizing the associated techniques and machinery in small-plot research and row crop production including pesticide application, tillage, planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and the ability to operate and troubleshoot precision agricultural software and hardware. Additionally, the candidate must have experience using computer spreadsheet software, statistical analysis and be able to generate protocols and reports for research and granting agencies.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the managerial and research functions at the Belleville Research Center under the general supervision of the Director of University Farms. Will be responsible for the training and supervision of several individuals including graduate and undergraduate students at the Belleville Research Center. Participates in discussion with funding agencies jointly with faculty researchers) involving research projects funding that exceeds $100,000 annually, creates an annual land use plan of work, assists in many aspects of public relations, assists in maintaining accounts of funds and appropriations, responsible for managing a comprehensive weather station which transmits data to Illinois and U.S. weather bureau networks, and performs other duties as required in support of operations of the Center. Overnight travel will be required on occasion.
