Assistant Professor (Agricultural Education), nine (9) month, tenure track, effective August 16, 2019, in the Department of Plant, Soil and Agricultural Systems at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in agricultural education or a closely related agricultural discipline is required. Applicants who have completed all but the dissertation and who expect to complete all requirements for the doctorate prior to August 15, 2019 will be considered. If official evidence of completion of all requirements for the Ph.D. is not received by August 15, 2019, the position offered may be a nine-month, term, non-tenure track appointment at a lower salary rate, in accordance with University policy https://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.php. Applicants must have teaching experience in secondary agriculture, with at least three years of experience desirable. Applicants who have strong demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and history or potential for procurement of extramural funding are preferred.

This is a security sensitive position. The University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation, which includes a criminal background check, prior to any employment offer.

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties will include: 1) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in education, leadership, management and communications (on-campus and by distance); 2) advising undergraduate and graduate students; 3) planning and conducting a high quality, productive research program; and 4) contributing to the department 's overall goals in scholarship and research. Teaching assignments will include course and curriculum support for agricultural education, leadership and communication courses, and curricula that serve students. The faculty member will actively participate in undergraduate education and graduate education by chairing and serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, supervising undergraduate research, and publishing research results.
